Cookie Policy

This website sets three cookies of its own: one that remembers what is in your basket, one that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers whether you agreed to be measured. All three are strictly necessary. No analytics or marketing cookie is set unless you accept, and refusing leaves none of them on your device.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device — computer, tablet or phone — when you visit a website. Web servers use them to recognise a visitor on a return visit and to make navigation work.

They may be session cookies, deleted when the browser closes, or persistent cookies, which remain for a set period. A cookie does not usually contain personal data in itself, but it may be linked to other data held about you.

1. Strictly necessary cookies

These make the website work. Without them the basket empties on every page and signing in does nothing. They cannot be switched off, and under the ePrivacy Directive they do not require consent.

Cookies set by this website
NameProviderPurposeExpiryType
byb.cartbybtech.itHolds the product codes and quantities in your basket, and a discount code if you entered one. It holds no prices — every total is recalculated on the server. The cookie is signed, so a modified one is discarded rather than trusted30 daysHTTP
sb-…-auth-tokenbybtech.itKeeps you signed in and refreshes the session while you browse. Split into numbered parts when it exceeds the 4 KB per-cookie limit. Deleted when you sign out400 daysHTTP
byb.consentbybtech.itRemembers whether you accepted or refused analytics and advertising, so the banner is asked once rather than on every page. It records the answer and the version of the question, so if what is being asked ever changes you are asked again rather than assumed to have agreed6 monthsHTTP

byb.cart and the session cookie are httpOnly, which means no script running in the page can read them. byb.consent is not, because the banner has to read your answer to know whether to appear at all. All three are sent only to bybtech.it.

2. Statistics and analytics cookies

None of the cookies in this section is set until you accept them. Refuse, or ignore the banner, and no analytics or advertising script runs at all — the site's consent defaults deny analytics, advertising and personalisation storage, and they are set before any tag can load.

Google Analytics 4 measures how the site is used, with IP addresses anonymised within the EU and EEA before transmission to Google. This section is the inventory of what it and the Meta pixel set once you have agreed to them.

Google Analytics 4 cookies — set only after you accept
NameProviderPurposeExpiryType
_gabybtech.itDistinguishes one visitor from another, so pages can be counted2 yearsHTTP
_gidbybtech.itTracks interactions anonymously within a day24 hoursHTTP
_gatbybtech.itThrottles the rate of requests to Google Analytics1 minuteHTTP

The Meta pixel measures whether an advertisement led to a visit, a message, a payment step or an order. Where you have consented, those events carry your email address as an irreversible hash, so the match never discloses the address. The pixel runs under the same consent as Google Analytics: refuse, and neither of the two cookies below is set.

Meta pixel cookies — set only after you accept
NameProviderPurposeExpiryType
_fbpbybtech.itIdentifies this browser to Meta, so a visit can be attributed to an advertisement3 monthsHTTP
_fbcbybtech.itStores the click identifier from a Meta advertisement, and only exists if you arrived from one3 monthsHTTP

4. Social media and embedded content

Where social sharing buttons or embedded video are used, third-party cookies may be installed by those providers and may track activity across sites. Video for tutorials and the training course is delivered by Mux. For details of what a third party sets, consult that provider's own privacy policy.

5. Managing and disabling cookies

Cookies can be managed from your browser's own settings:

Disabling cookies will stop parts of this website working. Blocking byb.cart empties the basket on every page, and blocking the session cookie makes signing in impossible.
